What we do
What we do with a Genie

Gears and belts, logic boards, travel and force settings, photo-eyes, rails, remotes and keypads, Aladdin Connect pairing on the units that have it — and a replacement when the unit has genuinely run out.
And the door first, every time. We disconnect the opener and lift the door by hand, because the commonest reason a working opener looks broken is a door the springs have stopped carrying.
What this usually turns out to be
- Opener repairGears, boards, safety sensors, remotes and rails.
- Sensor light blinkingThe photo-eyes at the foot of the tracks, aligned and tested on every visit.
- Motor runs, door won’t moveUsually the spring above the door rather than the machine on the ceiling.
One thing worth knowing about a Genie
Intellicode is usually why a remote “stopped working”
Intellicode is Genie’s rolling-code system. Each time the remote is used the code changes, and no code is ever repeated. Read on the manufacturer’s own site, .
That is good security, and it is also why a remote that was fine yesterday does nothing today — the pair has fallen out of step and needs programming again rather than replacing. Genie publishes the programming steps for each remote model, and a separate page for programming a car’s HomeLink buttons.

Before you call
Where the label is.
On the motor unit’s label. Genie’s support site holds the owner’s manual, the programming sheet and the troubleshooting codes for each model, so the model number is the whole conversation.
Two warranties, not one
Ours covers our work.
Our 5-Year Warranty on All Parts & Labor covers what we fit and what we do. Five years on parts and labor, every repair and every install. The manufacturer’s own warranty on the door or the opener is a separate document between you and them — their support site is linked on this page, and we don’t speak for it.
The safety check we do on every visit
- Auto-reverse tested
- Photo-eyes aligned
- Springs and cables inspected
- Door balanced
Guides
Read before you call, if you want to.
What is safe to do now, what you can see from a distance, and what to tell us — written from the manufacturers’ own guidance.
Describe it however makes sense to you
However you say it, that’s enough.
Tell us what the door sounded like and what it’s doing now, even if you don’t know the part name. This starts a conversation, not an appointment.
- However you describe it is enough. No part names needed.
- The written estimate is free. Nothing owed if you pass.
- Nobody starts the repair until you approve the number.
