What we do

Rescreen the frame, or replace it.

A technician fitting an insect screen on the outside of a window

Window screen replacement across DFW, from our Coppell base. If the frame is still straight, the mesh and the spline come out and new ones go in, and the frame you have stays.

A frame that has bent or split gets replaced instead. Either way each opening is measured rather than worked from a standard size, and both options go on the estimate with what each one gets you.

Screen door repair

If what has gone on a screen door is the screen itself — torn mesh in a sliding screen door, or in a storm door’s screen panel — it is the same insect-screen work: new mesh and spline if the frame is straight, a new frame if it has bent or split. A storm door’s closer or sweep is warranty work on a door we installed, and a new storm door is its own job.

How a screen is built

A screen is a frame, a mesh, and a rubber cord that holds the two together.

The frame is light rolled aluminum with a channel around the inside. The mesh is laid over it and pushed into that channel by a rubber spline — a cord rolled in with a wheeled tool. That is the whole of it, which is why a torn screen is rescreened rather than replaced: the same frame takes new mesh.

The mesh itself is a choice. Standard fiberglass mesh is the common one and it is the cheapest to replace. Aluminum mesh holds its shape better and does not sag. Pet-resistant mesh is a heavier fiberglass woven to take claws. Solar screen is a denser weave meant to cut heat, and it also cuts the view through it — a trade that matters more on a west-facing window than on a north one.

A frame is only replaced when the frame itself has gone: corners pulled apart, a rail bent past straightening, or a spline channel crushed. A screen door in a track works the same way — the door is a frame with mesh in it, and rescreening one is screen work like any other.

What it looks like

  • A tear, a hole, or mesh pushed out of its channel at one edge.
  • Mesh that sags or ripples in the frame.
  • A corner key that has pulled out, so the frame racks.
  • A screen that no longer stays in its clips or its track.

Brands

Screens for every major brand.

We rescreen and replace insect screens for windows of every major brand — Andersen, Pella, Marvin, Milgard, JELD-WEN and Ply Gem among them — and the screen in a sliding screen door or a storm door’s screen panel. Tell us how many screens there are, and we measure each one.

Where the line is

What we don’t do.

Two things we don’t do, so you’re not left waiting on us: broken or fogged glass and insulated-glass units, and solar screens. Lock and latch work is the same — on a new unit we attach, adjust and test the latch the manufacturer supplied, and nothing beyond that.

Questions people ask

Straight answers.

Can a torn screen be rescreened?
Usually. If the frame is straight the mesh and the spline are replaced and the frame stays. A bent or split frame gets replaced instead, and that goes on the estimate as a choice.
What will it cost?
It depends on how many screens there are, and on whether each frame is rescreened or replaced. The technician writes the price on the estimate before the work begins, and the invoice matches it.
Do you do screen door repair?
The screen, yes: torn mesh in a sliding screen door or in a storm door’s screen panel is rescreened like a window screen, or its frame replaced if it has bent. A storm door’s closer or sweep is warranty work on a door we installed.
Do you do solar screens?
No. Solar screens are outside what we do. Insect screens are what we do.
Do you make screens to fit?
Yes, measured to the opening. A technician measures each one rather than working from a standard size.
Do you charge to come out?
No. We look first and give you a written estimate. You approve it before any work starts, and there is no charge if you decline.
What does the warranty cover?
Five years on parts and labor, every repair and every install. The scope is on the estimate you approve and on the invoice.
